SPIRIT and SketchUp

Softtech developers have integrated SketchUp directly into their BUILDING INFORMATION NETWORK, allowing SPIRIT users real-time integration with SketchUp without the need for any plug-ins. All functions required for working with SketchUp drawings are directly available in SPIRIT.

SPIRIT users can import SketchUp SKP files directly or reference the files in their native SKP format without the need for translation. All modifications made to SketchUp files referenced in SPIRIT are automatically updated in SPIRIT, upon saving the changes to the SKP files in SketchUp.

Components in SketchUp are imported into SPIRIT as symbols. These symbols can be stored and used in other SPIRIT drawings.

All materials and textures assigned to the model in SketchUp are directly transferred to SPIRIT’s high-end rendering solution, Fresco II (Lightworks integration), including texture size, origin, mapping… Studio quality output is directly attainable from your SketchUp models without the need for any further user modifications. A multiplicity of light sources and high-quality procedural textures can be added for enhanced realism.

SketchUp can be used as the perfect companion product to SPIRIT, to model windows, doors and fixtures that are then integrated as parametric architectural components in SPIRIT’s smart ZAC technology.

SPIRIT version 14.2, which will be available towards the end of the year, will support the direct export of SPIRIT models in native SKP format, including texture and material assignment from Fresco II.

A new integrated cost manager plug-in for SPIRIT will allow immediate take-offs and cost analysis of imported SketchUp models.
